FAQ

What is therapy?

I see therapy as a co-created space for anyone who wants to reflect and examine what is happening in their internal experience in the presence of a supportive other. I love the idea of each of us having a deck of cards with all of our stories, values, beliefs, traumas, and dreams on them. I see therapy as a place where you can come to share your cards and together we can shuffle them around, examine them, turn them over, and sometimes even throw a few out. At the end of each session, you gather your cards back up and go back out into the world with a bit more strength and insight. That’s how I see therapy.

How often are sessions?

With new clients, I schedule weekly sessions. Weekly sessions help establish a solid foundation for the therapeutic relationship, while any less frequently can make it difficult to maintain momentum or continue to get to know you. Over time or in specific circumstances, I may be open to less frequent sessions which can be discussed.

How long are sessions?

Sessions are 50 minutes long and end 10 minutes before the hour, unless otherwise agreed upon.

What are your rates?

I charge $225 for a 50 minute therapy session.  All payments are due at the end of each session paid by credit card.

While I do set aside 20% of my caseload for reduced-fee clients, I do not currently have any of these spaces available. I understand that therapy can be expensive, but that shouldn’t limit you from seeking support. If you need lower fee counseling, here are some resources:

Do you take insurance?

While I am not in-network with any insurance companies, I am happy to provide you with a “Superbill” to submit to your insurance for potential reimbursement. Please check with your insurance company about their policies and potential reimbursement rates.

Good Faith Estimate

You have the right to receive a “Good Faith Estimate” explaining how much your medical care will cost. Under the law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have insurance or who are not using insurance an estimate of the bill for medical items and services. You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any non-emergency items or services. Make sure your health care provider gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing at least 1 business day before your medical service or item. You can also ask your health care provider, and any other provider you choose, for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more than your Good Faith Estimate, you can dispute the bill. Make sure to save a copy or picture of your Good Faith Estimate. For questions or more information about your right to a Good Faith Estimate, visit www.cms.gov/nosurprises.

Is there a cancellation policy?

Yes, there is a 48 hour cancellation policy. If you need to cancel your session, please let me know 48 hours in advance of your session time, including if you need to re-schedule within the week. If less than 48 hours notice is given or the appointment is missed, you will be responsible for the session fee.
